We had a busy week here at Lakewood! The students participated in Field Day on Thursday! It was a great time of fun and social opportunities! Although Field Day has great potential to be difficult and overwhelming for our students, I was really proud of how well they did! Everyone had fun and made it to popsicle time!
We spent a lot of time this week working on our Father's Day gifts for our dads. It is so much fun to hear the children talk about their families and identify characteristics about their dads. I won't spoil the surprise, but prepare to be amazed!
It's hard to believe that next week is the last week of school! Ms. McQuillan and I run our groups up until the last day--though we are flexible with the students' changing schedules and needs. I try to make the last week as scheduled and flexible as possible (I know--crazy right!) We want the children be involved in all of the excitement of their classrooms at the end of the year, but recognize that they need extra support to make this happen. Soooo--what I'm saying is, I'm prepared for nothing and everything next week. :) I have activities and assignments ready for when kids need to come to their regularly scheduled activities, but I'm prepared to let it all go if they're flying high in their gen. ed. classroom. After all, that's what they've been working so hard to do. So--bring on the beautiful mess! I'm so proud of what we've accomplished together this year!
