We made it! Another year in the books and your kids are another year older and smarter! We had a great week, but it was pretty busy! My goal this week was to catch up and tie up some loose ends. I made sure everyone finished Father's Day activities, their summer bucket list, their Circles activities and took home their Circles cards on a ring. This week is bittersweet in a lot of ways. It's exciting to end the year, but stressful as there is SO MUCH CHANGE! We are looking forward to summer, but sad to see some of our friends go! I'm so proud of the group I was fortunate enough to work with this year. They have done a nice job! I am happy (and sad) to be sending on our 5th grade friends. Congratulations to Josh, Arianna and Jesse on their graduation from Lakewood! We wish them the best in middle school!
I wish you a happy, healthy and super fun summer! PLEASE make sure your child is reading daily! A book before bed is a quick and consistent way to do this. Have lots of fun and adventures! I can't wait to hear about all of them in the fall!
I may be updating the website a bit over the summer, like our Teacher Chat blog as I find new resources or exciting research. Otherwise, here are some housekeeping tid-bits:
* Report cards are available on Family Access beginning June 18. Please check them out as we put a lot of time and thought into them!
* You can log into Family Access in late August to find out who your child's grade level teacher will be. This is a change this year.
* Our ASD Program's supply list for 2015-2016 is already posted on the Lakewood Elementary website. This way, you can shop those summer sales!
One last piece of information that I would like to pass along has to do with next year's grouping. For the past 4 years, I have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students in the ASD Program at Lakewood. Next year, I will also be taking on 2nd grade as our K-1 group is larger than normal. This is a change for the kids and for me, so we've been working to prep them (and their families) as the year wraps up.
Again, thank you for a fabulous and successful year! I look forward to a restful, book-filled summer!
And thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life and your child's life for another year. I consider it a big responsibility and a privilege.
