This week, we spent some time talking about Earth Day and ways to take care of the earth. We made some cute projects about ways to take care of the earth. The children enjoyed a game day with Mrs. Szalay where they worked on taking turns and losing a game. Also this week, we started the preliminary work on our Circles program, which we will be starting next week. We are in the process of learning and reviewing information about where we live and our parents' names and phone numbers. You might be thinking, "My kid did this last year! Why are you spending time doing it again?!?" I'm glad you asked! I quizzed all the kid on their address, phone number and parents' names--and no one got them all right! So it's a great time to review and relearn. This is information that elementary-aged kids don't use all the time, so they forget it or file it away and can't access it later when it's requested. All the more reason to keep practicing! My 4th and 5th grade group is a little behind in the process--we had an assembly and a half day that interfered with our meeting times. We'll keep working on it! You can't be over-prepared when it comes to safety!
The joke this week was:
"What do you call an old snowman?
Water!"
Our emotional vocabulary word this week was "ecstatic". The kid wrote it under "Happy".
Have a super weekend! Soak up that sun!
