Happy Friday and Happy early Mother's Day! This blog should catch you up on last week and this week. Sorry I didn't blog. I was so sick!
Last week we worked on learning about the people in our BLUE circle. The people who live with us. These are typically close family members. Later we will get into the details of touch, talk, and trust with regard to what should and shouldn't happen in each circle. Right now, we are just identifying who is in each circle. The first circle is ourselves, which is the color PURPLE. So, we learned/reviewed our personal information: address and a trusted phone number. We made cards of who lives in our house that can be stored inside the house.
This week we did many Mother's Day projects. We did some writing, some poetry, some descriptive writing, and some crafts. It was fun to celebrate and talk about this with the kids. In group, we worked on the M&M project, which will come home today and some adjective writing.
Kindergartners started to learn about land forms. We watched a clip and wrote/drew about what we saw and heard. They also went on their Greenhouse field trip on Thursday. It was a busy but productive week! We have also started some of the end of the year assessing. These are the shorter and quicker tests (DRA, hearing and recording sounds, rhyme, letter/sound ID, etc.) but are still occurring for a while.
Thank you so much for the amazing teacher appreciation! The gifts, cards, and kind words were the highlight of my week. Thank you also for stocking our prize box Mrs. Buehner and Mrs. Girardi! We are super set for the end of the year and maybe even the beginning of next year! You rock! Thank you also to Mr. White who scored us a $50 outreach gift card from Target! I am excited to get some "summer-y" items the kids can play with in sensory or use with recess buddies/game day with Mrs. Szalay.
Check out the Spinal Column for a photo of some of Community Time where the school was doing some dancing (Go Noodle) for the Blue Out! A nice representation of our school. Thanks again to Mrs. Kydd for inviting them out to showcase us!
Have a wonderful weekend. Hope you are well taken care of! You deserve it!
