This week we worked on our Father's Day cards and gift! We also completed the last of our unit and district math assessments! Whew! Man, these kids worked hard this year. I am so incredibly proud of their hard work. Thank you so much for how you supported them and me this year. I am truly grateful for my time with you and your child(ren). Mrs. Szalay had her daughters in for a day and they brought their good friend who was the prom queen for Walled Lake Northern. The prom king this year was a young man with autism. She spoke to the kids about how everyone voted for him because he is a nice person who tries his best. Then the girls helped to make "calming bottles" (sensory bottles). These will go home next week after we read the book, "Moody Cow Meditates".
The kids and I made a calendar of the last activities to come (2nd grade will complete this on Monday). This is to help prime them of the changes coming in our schedules. And on Friday we had our last prize day and FIELD DAY! Very fun.
I will spend next week talking about how we say goodbye to our grade level teachers and show the kids the next classrooms for their next grade level. The 2nd graders and I will tour the upper el centrum and see where those lockers and bathrooms are along with the classrooms.
I wish you a fun, happy, sunny summer! Have a great few months!
Love,
Ms. McQuillan
