These last two weeks were busy to get all of our information together for report cards. The kids were also assessed for goals and to achieve a baseline to review before spring break and after spring break performance. We were also busy preparing for the Blue Out. The 4th and 5th recess buddies performed a skit at community time this week while the 2nd and 3rd grade buddies created posters that were hung around the building to advertise. Mrs. Szalay received the free shirts she ordered through the Special Olympics grant and they are awesome! On Monday we will be sorting them out. If anyone would like to help with that we would love the help!
We did talk about conversations and staying on topic. Check out the video below for a great visual representation. This will be continued for the older students when we return. The younger students were exposed to it, but are still working on asking questions from others. This was to build on our speech bubble and thought bubble unit.
When we return from break it will be a very busy time. We will have our last round of IEPs including incoming kindergarten students from PAL, field trips and parties! The first big reminder is to WEAR BLUE ON APRIL 12TH! Join us in celebrating autism awareness. A list of activities, video clips, and books went out to the general education and specials staff so that we can share our awareness and acceptance all month long. Look for more information on that to come! We will also be sad to say goodbye to our lovely sub, Mrs. L who will be done on April 17th and our next long term sub, Ms. Rockafellow will join us that day as well. I have updated the google calendar with K-5 activities. That is on the home page so please check that out and save your dates.
Report cards went live today, so hopefully everything is showing up and working well.
Have a fantastic break and I will see the kiddos on April 10th!
