This week we had a game day with Mrs. Szalay to continue our work on losing appropriately and taking turns. For some this is really hard so any extra practice at home would help with improving those skills. We finished up a New Year project with kindergarten. All kids read "The Peace Book" by Todd Parr, which led into our MLK Jr. coloring book. We talked about facts that the book taught us. We will finish the books next week and send them home.
In math, kindergarten is still working in unit 3 which has a lot of focus on subtraction and addition as you have seen in the homework. In reading, we continue our work looking at pictures for clues to help us with tricky words as well as looking at the first few letters to stretch words out. We are still reading pattern books. In writing, we are working on stretching out words to identify what letters to use. As we practice handwriting, we have been making lists of words that begin with that letter. Our new poems feature the sight words we and like.
Have a nice longer weekend and we will see you Tuesday! Also, next Friday is a half day with dismissal at 12:43. Lunch is still part of our day so please pack a lunch and snack. Thanks!
