This week we worked on adding circles to our social detective notebook (which will go home for the summer for review and home practice). We talked about how the orange circle is for community helpers and how we can trust those people to do the service they perform or offer. The police we can trust to do their job. Same with firefighters, bankers, doctors, dentists, etc. Then with the stranger circle (red) we are not talking to them, touching them or going with them for ANY reason. We read the book, "Never Talk to Strangers" and Mrs. Szalay showed a video and talked with the groups about the topic.
We have been painting sheets of paper the colors of the circles to create a book that will go home soon.
If you went to the spring fair on Friday I hope you had a great night! In the coming week I will be finishing up reading assessments and we will be finishing Circles. Then the rest of the year groups will have some review of the topics we have covered so we can add to our notebooks.
Have a great week!
