A new program called "On Board with Autism" at the McNamara Terminal is holding "flight rehearsals" several times a year. This program is to help provide a test-run for children to determine whether they will be good candidates to navigate the routines of an airport and tolerate the sensory experiences that go along with it. If a child with autism has never flown before this is a good assessment and practice for the child and their families for the routines of security and the confines of an airplane. No one wants a traumatic experience and this should help to avoid one. In turn this educates the airline employees in the intricacies of autism.
