Recently, a family member from out of state contacted me and informed me that their child had just been diagnosed with autism. They wanted to know what to do. I began to talk to them about the diagnosis and resources that would be of help to them. The response I got was that they were overwhelmed by all of the resources. They wanted ONE resource. As a lover of books, I panicked! I find value in ALL of the books, research, websites, conferences...how do I pick one?! So I researched. I found this book and I think it's an awesome "Autism Crash Course". It's simply written, with no fancy acronyms or complex theories or science. It's straight to the point and covers a lot of ground. And if you can handle the strong British dialect, it's an easy read (I made it through this book in an evening). This is a great book for parents who are new to autism or for grandparents, aunts and uncles, babysitters or to those good friends who just wanted to help out. I found it on Amazon for under $9, so it's affordable too! (The Kindle version was $3.99) If you are looking for a ONE book autism reading list (gulp), check this book out!
