This week we started off with an expected/unexpected sort. Each egg contained a scenario or situation that the kids had to read and vote on. Each child used a card to show their answer. It was fun! The rest of the week we worked on Earth Day activities including a helpful/harmful sort and a book about Earth Day. Friday, we signed up for a class subscription (free) to GoNoodle. We voted on a character and each child was able to choose a song to sing and dance to. It was a great brain break to have fun and get moving! This coming week we will work on continuing our Social Detective/Superflex units. The first/second graders took home their notebooks to show you what notes they have taken. Please return the books this week and we will continue until the end of the year. Wednesday we will sharpen our saws and we are excited to try something new and/or do something we love!

We had a nice week back from spring break. Monday started off with a game day and the kids had fun using social language, handling losing, and taking turns. Mrs. Szalay led the group to make win-win decisions. Tuesday we wrote about our spring breaks and what we did, saw, ate, and who we visited. Thursday the 1st/2nd graders finished our Social Detective unit to prepare for our next unit Superflex. They also worked on adding a new word to their sight word folders. The kindergarteners played another round of Hygiene Bingo, learned a new poem about washing our hands and we made felt hands for them to practice the poem with (along with their germs). We also finished up some work from class that they needed extra time on. This week we continued our unit in hygiene and reviewed good oral health. As the 1st and 2nd graders finished their journal entries in their social detective notebooks, the kindy kids read the book, Froggy Goes to the Doctor. We talked about germs and how to stop spreading them. We talked about where they live and how they do get passed from person to person. At the end of the week we watched the 4th graders sing during the school-wide concert and wrapped up the week with labeling hygiene pictures, discussed their function and played BINGO! The kids had fun. We used the version above that I bought from Teachers Pay Teachers. We had a good time talking about being clean and how that will lend itself to other people having comfortable, happy thoughts |
