The first graders also read the book, "No, David!" and we discussed the things David was NOT doing to stay safe. We also made our group promise to each other by listing rules we should set for ourselves. We made a list that I will turn into a class poster for the kids to sign. Then I will hang it up for us all to be reminded of our rules. Friday, they went on a nature walk that overlapped our group time just a bit. They earned time on technology for following directions right away and using their words to communicate their needs. I'm so proud of the growth all the kids are making already! It's been an adjustment to be back and I'm sure all the kids are tired and overwhelmed. When they come home they may be hungry, tired, grumpy or on overload. I would build in a protein snack and preferred activity to calm that sensory system down before tackling any homework or demands. Obviously, this is parent choice, but some have asked for suggestions so those are my two cents! :)
I will be out of the building on Thursday and Friday, FYI. My guest teacher and paras will be holding the fort down!
Have a wonderful weekend!
