This week wrapped up our Circles Program by discussing places involving our circles and the people in them. We also spent a session priming for Field Day by reviewing pictures from last year, talking about the rules and expectations, and reviewing the different stations they could go to. We talked about taking turns for choosing stations so that we could have fun while thinking win-win. Each child did at least 5-10 stations and had a Popsicle (most ate one)! The kids could request a sensory break to pause from the lines and hustle of it all. Toward the end of the week we started to create our Father's Day gifts. 2nd graders had their writer's celebration and I was so proud to watch them speak into the microphone and read from their books!! They rocked it!
Each grade level will have their own party or celebration throughout next week. I will continue to pull students for breaks and instruction or work completion as needed because maintaining the schedule as much as possible during the last week is helpful as Mrs. Reece and I found from experience. We will help students participate in class activities and will be preparing them for the change to come for switching grades, teachers, and having a summer break from Lakewood.
I would like to thank you all for an outstanding year! I have met new faces, welcomed new friends to our program, enjoyed watching older friends continue to grow, and as much as I feel I taught the kids, they seem to teach me just as much and help me better my craft. I am truly thankful. I wish you a happy, healthy summer. ENJOY!
