After a long break, this week we went easy with our lessons and did some reviewing. The primary focus was remembering our rules at school, getting back into the routine and structure of a school day, and working on the social skills we have been practicing all year. The kids and I talked about our breaks and what we did, where we went, and who we saw. It was a great time to work on WH questions and practice staying on topic. We also read "The Rainbow Book" by Kate Ohrt and reviewed the 5 point scale. Then we made some collage rainbows just to give the kids time to have control of their own projects and make them how they wanted them to look. Today, Mrs. Szalay took the kids for game day! They were so excited because it was not a Tuesday! :)
In kindergarten, we started a new science unit about living and non-living items. The rules for living items are: it breathes, grows, eats, and reproduces (which I say can have babies). We did some activities and watched two cute videos. The cookie monster video was a hit!! They loved it and we watched it everyday! We did a coloring sheet where we circled and colored non-living items, a book in writing where we labeled pictures of living and non-living items, and sorted pictures. We also worked on -at and -an word family sorting. We will be working on -et next week. We made a list of words on the board together and practiced stretching them out.
Thank you SO much to Mrs. Cataldo, Mr. White, Mrs. McCormick, Mrs. Kydd, and Mrs. Buehner *who also picked up the bagels* for your time volunteering to sell bagels. Our program will earn money to purchase items we need or need to replace. It truly will help us go a long way!
Have a great weekend everyone!
