This blog post is for the past two weeks, as last week got away from me. We have been hard at work on talking about expected and unexpected behavior for the holidays. The older kids spent some time talking about Rock Brain during the holiday season and how being rigid can be a bummer for the activities and parties we go to. We also spent time talking about the concept of Social Fake--pretending to be interested in or like something that you do not for the sake of someone else's feelings. We opened "presents" (stuff wrapped up from my desk) that the kids had to pretend to like. We also talked about how this can extend to listening to someone talk about something they are intersted in, but that you are not. Or when you try a food someone made but actually don't like it. Hopefully, you see the fruits of this labor over break. :) Schedules are always messy with holiday festivities going on, so some of our group times got a little interrupted. We enjoyed finishing our ornaments for you and writing some thank you letters.
*New this year* IEP goal updates are being sent via snail mail now. We have completed your child's IEP goal updates and they have left our building. You should be receiving them in the next week. These are your copies to keep.*
Have a wonderful, restful break!
The joke this week was:
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Olive.
Olive who?
Olive the other reindeer!
The emotional vocabulary word of the week was: jolly. The kids wrote it in their social skills notebook under "happy"
