I have been completely loving the weather this week! I hope you've been enjoying driving with the windows down and getting some fresh air! This week, we had a lot of different things happening, which threw off our schedule quite a bit. Some of my younger groups finished up coloring their problem size apple trees. The older kids read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (one of 200 of my favorite books) and talked about feeling really mad. They also helped Alexander identify how big some of his problems really were. Turns out, he didn't need to move to Australia!
Also this week, we played a game where the kids "voted" on what size problem was in each scenario and brainstormed solutions to these problems. It was fun to watch them really think about problems--and a couple even identified that maybe they've been overreaction for a while. :) Between more MAP testing, a day off, a 1/2 day of meetings for me and a field trip, I think we got a lot done!
Unfortunately, there was no joke of the week or emotional word of the week--we'll try again next week! Have a wonderful weekend!
